The Best Things You Can Do In Your First Clean & Sober Days

Once you have completed a supervised detoxification process and you’re safe from dangerous withdrawal symptoms, you are ready for your first few days as the new person you want to become. However, Rome wasn’t built in a day. You’re about to start walking a very long and challenging path to sobriety. Here are some suggestions that will help you get off to a new start.

Try to take the first few days off from work, school or child care duties if possible. You need some time to focus on the process you’re going through.

Find yourself a support group that suits you. Else, find a couple of good friends you trust and ask them to spend time with you. Don’t be afraid to tell others that you need them right now.

Take a nice, long bath. Watch a movie or your favorite show. Make time to read that book you’ve been yearning to read for ages.

Your body needs to recover from what you’ve put it through. Therefore, you’ll need to drink plenty of water or tea. Also, make sure you eat a healthy diet.

What works for other people might not work for you, and vice versa. Discover the things that help you make it through the days and keep doing it while it still works for you.

“Sobriety is the strength of the soul, for it preserves its reason unclouded by passion.” –   Pythagoras
